Laparoscopic surgery for Polycystic Ovaries (PCOD / PCOS)
Polycystic ovarian disease is a common endocrine condition in young females and is associated with increased facial hair growth, acne, delayed menstrual cycles and infertility/ subfertility. PCOS is a lifestyle disease and the primary treatment modality is weight reduction, diet modification, and regular exercise.
The primary cause of infertility in PCOD patients is anovulation/ nonproduction of eggs. This can be managed by medicines that induce egg formation. In some of the resistant cases laparoscopic ovarian drilling helps in egg formation.
