Gynaecological Laparoscopic Surgery Methodology

Minimal access surgery is the need of the hour. In the Gynecology speciality most of the patients are young patients and are fit for laparoscopic surgeries. We must provide our patients the advantages of laparoscopic surgeries in addition to cosmetic advantages. At the same time there is no formulated hands on training programme in India which trains the young and working senior doctors.

  1. The major setback to the learning of gynaecological laparoscopic surgeries is the fact that most (all most all except few) of the teaching hospitals/ medical colleges are not widely practicing gynecological laparoscopic surgeries. This fails to encourage or stimulate the young doctors to think about starting or pursuing their carrier in the field of gynecologic laparoscopy. In our training programme we have decided to take the level of knowledge and skill of our trainees to a different level. We promise to put all our efforts and dedications to make you a confident and ethical surgeon and more than that a better doctor with higher moral values.
  2. The second inhibition to learning or starting gynecologic laparoscopic surgeries is the fear of complications. We take all our efforts to wipe out this fear from the mind of our trainees. We are doing the maximum number of surgeries in the country right now. The vast and continuos exposure will help you to adopt the technique faster making your learning curve short. During the process of learning you will be taught and demonstrated how to modify the techniques in simpler ways to avoid complications.
  3. The uniqueness of our training programme is that it is a hands on training programme. Unlike other training programmes where observation of surgery is the main content of the training programme we promise you to give hands on experience. This includes assisting in first few cases followed by doing surgeries under close supervision in next few cases and doing independent surgeries afterwards. We have to keep in mind that patient safety is our top priority and and at any point of time this will not be compromised. You will be allowed to do more challenging case only after we feel that you are competent enough to handle such cases.
  4. Laproscopic surgeries are partly equipment dependent and knowledge of the equipments helps you to tide over in difficult situations. If you understand the equipments properly you become more confident and stand out as a different surgeon all together among your peer groups. In our programme we teach our trainees how to understand, identify and assemble the equipments including hand instruments, ports and endovision (Camera and light source). We work on different energy sources including ultrasonic energy, advanced bipolar vessel sealing devices in addition to routine mono polar and bipolar devices and our trainees get a chance to get exposed to all these modern devices.
  5. Hand-eye coordination is the one of most important qualities of a laparoscopic surgeon. During our training programme we try to make your skills more and more refined by involving you in more number of surgeries. In addition to this there are pelvitrainors/ simulators fixed at our Center for the practice of the trainees. Pelvitrainors are only for refining of the hand-eye coordination.
