Laparoscopic Myomectomy
Fibroids are the most common tumour in female reproductive organ. Most of the fibroids are without symptoms and do not need any treatment. Incidentally diagnosed fibroids on USG only needs follow up. Symptomatic fibroids need treatment.
Laparoscopic myomectomy is an advanced key hole surgery for removal of uterine fibroids and needs a lot of experience and expertise. We are presently doing the maximum number of myomectomies in the country. Size of the fibroid and number of fibroids are not the limiting factors for Dr Dash and he has removed up to 21 fibroids laparoscopically. We have the record of removing fibroid up to 7 months pregnancy size laparoscopically.
Laparoscopic myomectomy in subfertile or infertile patients is technically more challenging and should be done by expert fertility enhancing laparoscopic surgeons. We have the maximum experience of doing laparoscopic myomectomy in subfertile/ infertile patients. We take care that the fallopian tubes are well taken care off during surgery and ensure that it is not blocked after surgery. Dr Dash has adopted a new technology of removing the fibroids by morcillating in an endobag which prevents the remote chance of accidental spillage of unsuspected malignancy. This is practised by a very limited gynaecologists. None of our laparoscopic surgeries has been converted to open surgery and we completed all the myomectomies laparoscopically which is very reassuring for young, unmarried and aesthetically oriented patients.
